I plan on upgrading my 10 year old Sony 5.1 receiver and speakers. Currently looking at an Onkyo TX-NR609 and piecing in the speakers, or possibly the Onkyo HT-S8409.

Opinions are welcome, good or bad. A few friends swear by Onkyo, and their systems sound really nice. So that's why I'm leaning in that direction.

This is in conjunction with Ariat's post. I'd have posted earlier however been too busy to even play.
